Alternative Provision

Students get the chance to immerse themselves in learning and gaining experiences that would otherwise be unavailable.

SRDF is located in The AJ Bell Stadium which is one of the newest in the UK and provides first class facilities in and exciting and vibrant building.

All programmes can be bespoke and if specific children have complex needs this will usually be established prior to the start date. Students will be made aware of what behaviour is acceptable and will sign an individual code of conduct which is strictly adhered to throughout delivery. SRDF is familiar with monitoring and evaluation of projects and keep up to date with the latest techniques via CPD for staff through organisations such as Salford CVS and the National Governing Body (Rugby Football League). SRDF staff use a variety of tools to track progress against these outcomes including session registers, feedback questionnaires (anonymous if required), outcome stars and focus group sessions.

The unique opportunity of learning in a professional sports club has seen Students thrive in this environment. We have a unique selling point being close to a professional sports club, which sees us able to offer students the chance to take part in activities that would not be available at school. The current cohort of students has been skiing, rock climbing, kayaking as well as taking part in tradition sports. Upon completion of the course participants have the option of continuing their studies with SRDF as we also deliver the Extended Diploma Level 3 BTEC Sport. Students can see a clear progression route to achieving an excellent education which can lead to University acceptance if high grades are achieved.

SRDF prides itself in the high quality provision it provides in all community delivery, which is shown by its ability to obtain multiple lottery funded projects and council commissioned contracts. Programmes are generally delivered at The AJ Bell Stadium although our courses often have external deliver at our satellite sites or venues such as The Chillfactore, and Challenge4Change. As with all our education programmes there are detailed schemes of work, lesson plans and unit booklets created which are accessible to the school to sample and review. As an organisation that independently delivers Level 3 Sport BTEC the knowledge of appropriate documentation and long term planning for academic achievement is present and SRDF has an ongoing CPD programme that keeps all staff up to date with current and future syllabus. As a professional sports club SRDF has access to the clubs many stakeholders and elite level services that can be used to enhance and programmes that are developed.

Engaged schools have been able to offer the parents of the participating the opportunity to experience a VIP match day, where they were hosted by staff that deliver the course to their child and could ask questions and view the fantastic facilities that are used to deliver the course to their children.

All students will have Individual Learning Plans which will have specific target dates built in to highlight where students are expected to be at specific times in the year. Learning and achievement is paramount and if there are students who are struggling SRDF have qualified learning mentors that are able to provide additional assistance if required within classes. SRDF staff has also delivered extra sessions within the school environment as an extra study/revision session before school, at dinner and after school.
