Activities further afield
Beyond SRD Foundation’s core work in Salford, Manchester and Trafford the organisation puts great stock in the outreach work we undertake on a regular basis. The Foundation now has many friends the world over from trying to support projects in a small way in as far flung places as Canada, Jamaica and Malaysia.
Closer to home the Foundation has worked with clubs and organisations in North Wales, Midlands and Northern Ireland. All that said one of the greatest successes has been through work in Scotland.
SRDF is a regular visitor to Airdrie in Scotland where an annual camp takes place with the Monkland Warriors community rugby league side. The partnership was born out of a relationship with life long Reds fan and local high school teacher Les Obre and sees Reds coaches delivery the camps whilst being on the look out for local talent. These trips have already bore fruit from a player development point of view with local youngster Tony Campbell joining the Reds’ player pathways last year. The featured picture above shows the Warriors packing down for a scrum versus local Salford side Langworthy Reds who made the trip north of the border to play recently.
