Tackling Smoking

Reds Tackle Smoking in the City

Salford Red Devils Foundation have a unique way of engaging local residents across a variety of activities and the delivery of our Tackle Smoking scheme is one such activity. Working with other providers across the City, SRDF now have an offer that both raises awareness of the dangers of smoking but actively engages local residents to stop (or at very least reduce their intake)

After a ‘Face Your Demon’s tobacco control campaign, SRDF continue to work hard and make a big impact in this area in the local community. Our core aims and objectives around this topic include:

  • Using the vehicle of Salford Red Devils including its players, facilities, website, mascot and game day experience to raise awareness of the dangers of smoking,
  • Raising awareness of partner providers including Unlimited Potential and NHS Salford via community programme in schools, businesses and community groups,
  • Engaging smokers to quit or at very least reduce their consumption,
  • Raising awareness of the dangers to the wider family, the family home and even the family pets

The Foundation have had some great successes as we look to impact positively on people’s lives, with particular success around National Awareness Day and annual ‘Stoptober’ activity in October.
