Congratulations to St Peter’s Year 7’s Girls

The whole of the Salford City Reds Foundation team wish to express their warmest congratulations to the girls of St Peter’s High in winning the Girls National Championship again this year following their victory in 2012.

Winning in the final, in a fiercely competitive game 32 – 18, against Sirius Academy Hull, the girls and their team of coaches are delighted to once again be bringing glory and the trophy back to the North West.

The National Rugby League School’s Cup is the pinnacle of the schools Rugby League season in this country, with teams competing all season from all over England, for ultimate glory in the final held at Richmond Rugby Club.

Despite the game finishing early this afternoon (23rd August), SCRFoundation’s Manchester Outreach Coach, Andy Connaughton, part of the girls coaching team, phoned in the good news from Richmond Rugby Club, as well as to express his pleasure at the girls success.

“Working with the St Peter’s Girls this year has been great. It’s often said that achieving something can be the easy part, but maintaining success can prove difficult. However, by winning the Championship again this year, the girl’s have shown how capable they are and I’m delighted for their success.

“It’s great to see all their hard work has payed off, and it’s great for the school and the region’s women’s game as a whole. Let’s hope that with continued hard work and with some more talent coming through that we can be here again next year”.
