The Salford Red Devils Foundation hosted the Salford Schools Cup finals this week, bringing the best teams from years 7-11 to the AJ Bell Stadium for two days of tightly contested rugby league games.

The Foundation work extensively with schools across the Salford, Manchester, Trafford and Bury, providing coaching and development sessions.

The schools involved had already negotiated their way through the early rounds of the cup competition, and the finals were an exhibition of high quality rugby league.

Foundation Player Development Manager Danny Barton over saw the finals and was pleased with what he saw;

‘These finals were an excellent display of the quality of rugby league that is being played and coached in Salford schools at the moment. The standard was very high, and I’m convinced that these players will continue to play the game and develop as players.”

The winners at each age group are as follows:

Year 7: Moorside High School

Year 8: Ambrose Barlow

Year 9: Ambrose Barlow

Year 10: Walkden High School

Year 11: Buile Hill High School
