Education and Employment Activity Expanding at SRDF

Education and Employment Activity Expanding at SRDFoundation

Friday (13th December) saw the team at the Salford Red Devils Foundation welcome a number of budding young students to the AJ Bell Stadium for a ‘taster session’ and a tour of the stadium and facilities, in anticipation to enrolling upon the Sports BTEC Level 2 commencing in early January.

The morning was designed to enable students, aged 16-18, to get insight into the course with a view to undertaking an education and career into Sports Management, Coaching or Executive positions. With the BTEC Level 2 providing students with the equivalent of 4 GCSE’s, it enables students to continue onto the BTEC Level 3 taking place from September, and hopefully progressing onwards into higher education and work positions.

With Education Projects Manager Neil Blackburn leading the session, attendees had the opportunity to sample learning material from Sports Psychology lessons, as well as Sports Nutrition and Sports Coaching, before taking a tour of the stadium as well as taking in the Salford Red Devils First Team morning training session.

Neil said, “It’s great to see so much interest in the course, and having the opportunity to speak to potential students and inspire their education and career progression into the world of sports is quite something.

“We very much look forward to welcoming some of the morning’s attendants to the course in January, as well as others who will form part of our inaugural student contingent”.

The Sports BTEC Level 2 demonstrates significant developments in the SRDF Education & Employment activity. With the Foundation already developing pedigree in delivering a number of ‘Back To Work’ and
‘Ready To Work’ Schemes, aimed at upskilling individuals with a view to aiding competitiveness in the job market, as well as having undertaken an apprenticeship scheme for a number of years now, expanding the current Foundation led NVQ into a BTEC illustrates further advancement in this area.
