Foundation appoints new Trustees

Salford Red Devils Foundation – New Appointments

Salford Red Devils Foundation are delighted to announce three new additions to their Board of Trustees and the launch of an Ambassador scheme to harness the enthusiasm of local stakeholders and personalities.

With excitement growing around Salford’s rugby playing exploits, the Foundation continues to ensure the Red Devils have a big, positive impact on the local community. Over the last year the Foundation has grown in size significantly as new and existing partnerships are developed with partners such as Salford Council, Sky TV and Sport England. The completion of purpose built classrooms at the AJ Bell Stadium and opening of a new base at Oasis Media City UK Academy are perfect examples of this success.

To help enhance this growth Joanne Harding (above 3rd from right), Asif Latief (above 1st on left) and Chris Longbottom (pictured below) will join the existing board to bring a wealth of experience from the public, commercial and legal sectors.

Joanne is a Councillor for Urmston in Trafford, who sits on the local authority Health Scrutiny committee. She will provide support in the development of the Foundation’s activities in Trafford and the wider health sector.

Asif is the Marketing & Strategic Accounts Director at Ashtead Plant Hire who will bring a wealth of invaluable commercial knowledge to the organisation as it seeks to grow its unrestricted funds base.

Finally, Chris is a former professional rugby league player and Associate Solicitor at Aaron & Partners LLP who joins the Foundation with an array of legal knowledge and business networking contacts to help us develop partnerships with local stakeholders

The new appointees join founder Trustee Paul Snape, Professor James Powell, Janice Lowndes and Mark Pearson to form a diverse, experienced and talented Board.
On the appointments, Paul Snape added “Mark Brocklehurst and John Blackburn deserve huge credit for expanding the scale and work of the Foundation which now has ten full time staff and high quality facilities.  The future looks bright and we are delighted to welcome Joanne, Asif and Chris as we look to continue the progress of the last 12 months”

The Foundation also welcome on board Salford Royal’s Director of Innovation Dr Maxine Power and Red Devil’s Captain Adrian Morley as the first of a team of Ambassadors.  The Ambassadors will play an informal but important role in helping develop the profile of the Foundation and in identifying future opportunities.
