Mental Fitness Programme for males aged 16+

Salford Red Devils launch 'Offload' to local services

Wednesday 5th April saw great support by our partner Salford services for the launch of 'Offload.

The launch involved the following guest speakers;

Siobhan Farmer - Consultant in Public Health, Salford City Council

Phil Cooper and Danny Sculthorpe - State of Mind

Emma Goldsmith - Rugby League Cares

Our player ambassadors Lama Tasi and Todd Carney also made a special appearance supporting the programme and sharing their own personal experiences to show the importance of a programme like 'Offload'.

What is Offload all about?

Ever wondered how Rugby League players deal with the demands of the game on and off the field?

Professional sports coaches often speak about mental fitness being more important than physical preparation and a new partnership between Salford Red Devils Foundation, State of Mind & Rugby League Cares will give you the opportunity to go behind the scenes of the greatest game in the world.

Offload involves a 10 fixture season at the AJ Bell Stadium where men will join forces with Rugby League players, past and present, to understand the challenges of the sport.  The ability to deal with injury, moving to a new Club, tactical changes, retirement and new careers beyond the game will all be discussed along with their ability to juggle the everyday demands of life (e.g. relationships, mortgages) whilst performing at the top level.

When is Offload and how can I get involved?

Sessions currently taking place here at the AJ Bell Stadium;

Mondays - Starts 10th April - 7:30pm to 9pm - Second half Masters training (excluding bank holidays)

Wednesdays - Starts 12th April - 7:30pm to 9pm - Second half fitness

Squad members will be given exclusive access to the Club with extra opportunities to get involved in the Foundation’s sport, heritage, health and education activities alongside the Offload fixtures.

Places in the squad are limited so please contact Joanne Shepherd (joanne.shepherd@salfordreddevils.net) or 0161 7861591 for further details.
