Red Devils Host Community Club Youth Panel

Red Devils host Community Club's Youth Panel

Last night saw the inaugural meeting of a panel of representatives from our 10 local community RL clubs. The initial agenda was very much about setting out the Red Devils plans for supporting the community clubs with presentations on funding opportunities from Streetgames, a session on Embed the Pathway from the RFL and an insight into the forthcoming CPD programme from Foundation staff. The main idea being to get feedback on what the clubs need and want more of.

The group was told about early successes in these plans, which include new u8s at Little Hulton, a new u12s and Folly Lance and a new u13s at South Trafford Raiders, before being presented with a set of kit each.

The group talked through a number of ideas and most excitingly it was decided to pilot a series of local competitions over the summer months. At Under 8/9s and Under 12/13s the Salford Red Devils Foundation will host 2 festivals at 7 aside and 9 aside respectively. Trophies bearing the names of famous Red Devils players from the past will be commissioned and played for by our local sides.

Red Devils CEO Martin Vickers said “from the Foundation’s Development Officers through to our Head Coach Iestyn Harris, the Red Devils are committed to supporting the development of our Community Clubs. We are proud of their achievements and it is fantastic to see how vibrant and positive the local game is”

Red Devils Foundation Director Mark Brocklehurst added “it was great to see so much positivity in the room and the recent success stories seen at clubs such as Little Hulton, Folly Lane and South Trafford demonstrates just how serious we are about making a real difference locally”
